Meet Expectations

●Please declare which meets your children can attend online as soon as possible (we will send you instructions on how to do so)- your MUST commit your swimmer on team unify by Tuesday at midnight or they cannot swim in the meet

●Be Prompt - Please plan to be at the pool at least 10 minutes before warm-up begins (warm-up time varies by meet - between 6:45 and 7:30). Meet starts at 8 a.m.

●Be Prepared - Swimmers need a towel, water, goggles, a cap/ hair tie (for long hair), and the team suit (or a purple or black swimsuit- Girls - One-piece, Boys - Jammer or Speedo). Swim meets can last up to 5 hours - bring towels, clothes, water, snacks, sunscreen and entertainment (cards, coloring books, bey blades, etc.)!

  • What not to bring: Glass is not permitted on any pool deck. Please leave alcohol and anything dangerous (knives, guns, etc.) at home.
  • Timeline: Summer Swim meets typically last 4-5 hours, usually starting around 8am and ending around 12:30pm.

●Parents are encouraged to bring a canopy tent and camp chairs to be comfortable when you are not volunteering. Feel free to share canopies with other swim families! You will make new friends under the canopies!

●Volunteer - Each family is expected to volunteer at least 8 hours over the course of the season (more information about volunteer positions in a later slide).

●Swimmers can compete in up to 4 events and 1 relay per meet. The coaches pick the swimmers events. Please email or leave a note on Team Unify for any meet requests. (For example- if you can attend a meet but must leave by 11:30 a.m.)

●Writing Events on your swimmer’s arm is very helpful (we will send you instructions how)

●Swimmers receive heat winner ribbons at the meet and event ribbons at Monday’s practice up to 12th place

●If you have committed your swimmer to the meet but can no longer come, please text one of the Hurricanes board members.
